His career in the media industry started more than twenty years ago as a press photographer. He worked as a photojournalist and crime reporter on various publications before joining the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as a video editor. He left the SABC 10 years later as a Specialist News Cameraman and Video Editor. Marius covered news events in Africa, the UK and Europe including Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavia and Ethiopia.
He joined the then Port Elizabeth Technikon (now the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) as a lecturer in Broadcasting. He was instrumental in developing the Television and Radio Production Modules.
He was also behind the establishment of Campus Waves, a student radio station.
Marius possesses knowledge and experience that cannot be found in a text book.
He is co-director of The Media Workshop
Denise Roodt has vast experience as a television news reporter, television producer and journalism educator.
She was a senior journalist at the SABC, during which time she served as news editor of Good Morning South Africa, as a field television reporter in the Eastern Cape and as an international correspondent based in London.
Memorable news events she covered include the 1994 national elections, when she led the Eastern Cape news team in the live coverage of this momentous event.
She also covered the Goniwe inquest and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings in the Eastern Cape.
She produced numerous television documentaries and inserts, ranging from an in-depth report on drought and its effect on farming communities in the Eastern Cape to a magazine programmes on the world’s largest diamond expo in Vicenza, Italy.
Denise co-ordinated the journalism programme at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (former Port Elizabeth Technikon) from 1999 to 2007.

Mncedi received training from the double Emmy Award winner Tim Knight from the Canadian Broadcast Corporation through SABC as well as Ian Masters from the BBC through the Thomson Foundation.
Mncedi Hubert Ngqawana
Mncedi started in the TV industry in August 1989 as a Production Secretary for SABC Eastern Cape region. His main task was to co-ordinate live multi-camera as well as single camera shoots. He then moved to Johannesburg in January 1993 to work as a Junior Producer for a women’s magazine called Era. The highlights included interviews with Frene Ginwala on Justice and Equal rights, Mojanku Gumbi on Woman of the Year, Jeremy Cronin on Chris Hani book launch, Patricial de Lille and Baleka Mbete on Women’s Room, Nosimo Balindlela on Education and Arts & Culture, After leaving SABC in 1997, he still contributed to various programmes including Sportsbuzz and Hosanna! In 1994 he was chosen as a Features Producer for election programmes and in 1995, became a field reporter and was re-called as a freelancer for Elections ’99 & 2000!
